Sam Bailey has been dropped by Simon Cowell's Syco label - just 14 months after the unlikely star was crowned victorious on X Factor.

The 2013 winner, who beat Nicholas McDonald and Luke Friend (no, us neither) topped the charts to claim the Christmas No.1 spot with her cover of Demi Lovato's 'Skyscraper'. Her album, The Power Of Love, then shifted 72,644 copies in its first week - making it the second fastest-selling female solo album of 2014 behind Taylor Swift's Earth-shifting 1989.

Now, however, it seems that the flame may be out between the former prison guard and high-waisted Cowell, with her contract not being renewed. She confirmed the news on Twitter:

After releasing an autobiography, she's currently amidst a UK tour. For tickets and information, visit here

Other X Factor winners to have subsequently parted ways Syco include James Arthur, Leon Jackson, Shayne Ward, Joe McElderry and the insanely short-lived Steve Brookstein.
