6 January, 2014: The 1975 kicked off their 2014 UK tour last night in Manchester, with frontman Matt Healy starting the New Year as they ended the last - drunk in charge of a chart topping band.
The outspoken and enigmatic frontman took to the stage to perform hits including 'Chocolate', 'The City', and 'Sex' - clutching a bottle of red wine. The band enjoyed a huge 2013, and have been one of the biggest success stories of the past 12 months, so he has every right to celebrate. The band are touring constantly throughout 2014, with firm plans to release a follow-up in 2015.
"We've already recorded seven or eight songs for the next album already, so we'll just keep doing that for another year and then January 2015, we're going to go into the studio," said Matt, in an interview with Gigwise. "I think there might be an EP at the end of 2014. Round about this time next year. We want the next album to come out two years to the day after the first one."
