    This week's must-listen tracks

Kick of the weekend in style with our round up of the biggest tracks from the past week with everything from Kanye West's latest project to the return of an old favourite and two big mixes from Grimes and James Murphy.

    Friends - Mind Control

Friends look set to soundtrack our summer with the release of their debut album 'Manifest!' in June. Mixed by Adele co-hort Paul Epworth, this new single is the perfect insight into the uber-cool Brooklyn band.

Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz - Mercy

The first insight into the long-awaited GOOD Music album due for release later on this year, Mercy is an ominous hint at what is to come. We're counting down the days to the release of what is sure to be one of the biggest hip-hop albums of 2012.

    Ko Ko - Float

Mixing swirling electronic sounds with an indie sensibility - Ko Ko make a heartwarming, sensitive blend of instrument-driven boy-pop.

Frank Ocean - Whip Appeal (SBTRKT remix)

It seems that SBTRKT deals with his on tour boredom by creating remixes of Frank Ocean tunes. Not that we're complaining though, with the UK producer adding an extra layer of electronic soul to the Odd Future affiliates recent buzz track.

    Hadouken - Parasite

Named by Zane Lowe as his Hottest Record in the World on 12 April, 2012, 'Parasite' is the band's first single since their 2010 album, 'For The Masses'.

    Yuck - Chew

Yuck return with a Pitbull featuring, dubstep club joint that could well have been produced by Calvin Harris. Just kidding, they're still doing their lo-fi slacker thing but 'Chew' goes to prove they do it better than the rest.

Death Grips - 'I've Seen Footage'

Later this month Death Grips will release one of the heaviest, relentless and frantic albums of the year so far. The fact that 'I've Seen Footage' is one of the more gentle, relaxing moments on the record should be either a warning or enticement to you.

Grimes mix for The Pop Manifesto

Though she is more influenced by the likes of Aphex Twin and underground UK bass producers, there is a huge pop streak running through Grimes music. Here she guides us through her favourites, from Katy B and Benny Benassi all the way through to Aqua (no, really).

Battles - Rolls Bayce (Hudson Mohawke remix)

'Dross Glop', the remix album to Battles 2011 album 'Gloss Drop' (see what they did there), is out at the end of this month and this track is a definite highlight. It also marks Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke's second appearance in this week's list after his production credit on Kanye West's Mercy.

    James Murphy Boiler Room

LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy recently took time away from preparing the release of his movie Shut Up and Play The Hits' to DJ at London's Boiler Room. The results can be heard below, now.
