Infectious Summer pop mixing Prince and Metronomy influences

One day soon it will stop raining in the UK and we will bask in the lukewarm glory that is our annual two days of Summer.

When that day comes, and trust us it will*, we'll be listening to The Magic and their care-free sunshine pop, that's for sure. Equal parts Metronomy and Prince with a hint of Everything Everything's maverick approach to pop they have perked us up with their neon bright tunes and infectious choruses.

'Mr Hollywood' is our first taste of The Magic and it's an addictive teaser. The song was recorded over a couple of nights in their studio and is a soulful disco pop anthem about the double lives of closeted gay actors, such as Rock Hudson, Carey Grant and To.. (that's enough - legal ed).

Born and bred in Ontario, The Magic is the brainchild of brothers Geordie and Evan Gordon whose names you may recognise from the band Islands. No worries if not though, The Magic are entirely their own band and are gearing up for a full album release in June.

‘Mr Hollywood’ is the debut single from The Magic, taken from their upcoming abum ‘Ragged Gold’, released on 11th June 2012. The debut album ‘Ragged Gold’ is released on Monday 25th June 2012, via Half Machine.

*We make no promises.
