More about: Swim Deep
"We've got to a point with these new songs where we feel like we're really expressing ourselves a lot more than we used to," admits Swim Deep frontman Austin Williams, before they headline Gigwise's Stylus Stage at Live At Leeds "in a more civilised manner, maybe?" However, as all present can testify, there's nothing 'civilised' about the unbridled love of a Swim Deep fan.

As they tell us, there's a long history of a certain kind of devoted passion from their Leeds fans, coming from the very unique way that the spirit of the Swim Deep connects with their audience.
"It's just that kind of energy and belief that everything else in the world is falling apart, and you can keep dancing," Williams continues. "It's about the belief that every summer could be the summer of love, you can make it fun for yourself and you can be a better person. I think people pick up on that in the music, whether I say it or not."
He adds: "We're not so drunk and shambolic any more. It was kind of charming back then. I think as a band comes out, it's kind of charming for them to be a bit crap live, we don't want to do that any more.
Bandmate James Balmont added: "If anything now, we're less drunk but having more fun."
