"I've always been a big believer that if you've got good taste in music and you make a record you really love, that connects with you and five other individuals, then there's a good chance that it's going to connect with other people," Justin Young tells Gigwise of English Graffiti.
Discussing the band's third album he seems rejuvenated. "I think we just wanted to make a record that felt fresh and exciting to us - one where you can hear that we're really enjoying it and one where the songs are really great pop songs, but underneath it there was this catharsis that was very obvious and very emotionally intense and meaningful. You just hope that everything else falls into place."
Fallen into place it certainly has - not only is English Graffiti The Vaccines' most consistent work to date, but with that blend of fun, fire, pleasure and passion, it's also their most complete - and one of the best records of the year so far. To find out what went into making the album, we sat down with the band for a track by track guide to English Graffiti.
