This Saturday, for the first time, Live At Leeds will be making its grand debut in the great outdoors! Taking place at Temple Newsam, the festival will host an array of talent, including festival staples, the eclectic and eccentric, and new talent from Yorkshire and beyond.

If you’re worrying about what your schedule is going to be and who to see over who (don’t fret, we all are, very relatable), here are 5 acts who you should catch under the skies of Leeds this weekend.

Dream Wife

One of the most peppy, bold and dynamic bands under the punk umbrella to be working today, Dream Wife will be bringing their joyous live show to the people of Leeds on Saturday. They’ve been touring relentlessly for the past 3 years, building up an organic following and widespread acclaim on their way, and with frenetic moshpit-ready bangers such as ‘F.U.U.’ and ‘Sports!’, it’s easy to see why. They’re a band who have an inclusive message at their heart, going out of their way to create a safe space for female and LGBTQ+ fans; expect to see one of the nicest audiences of the festival at their set, limbs flailing in celebration of life and picking each other up in the pit. If you want a fun, loud and fiery show to kick off your festival, look no further than Dream Wife.

DIY Big Top - 15.10-15.45

Confidence Man

A Confidence Man show is something that truly needs to be experienced to be believed. Their high energy brand of unconventional pop music is backed with impressive choreography and theatrical costume changes, leaving you breathless by the end. Their new album TILT is a record born for sunny days in sweaty crowds, with songs that seem to manifest the hedonistic carefree atmosphere festivals are made for. If extravagance, excess and huge shoulder pads are what you’re looking for, you can do no better than Confidence Man- after all, it’ll be the party of the year.

DIY Big Top - 16.15-17.00

Tribes

Amongst the cavalcade of new talent flexing their muscles at Live at Leeds, you’ll find established festival favourites gracing the stages with their arsenal of anthems. However, it’d be foolhardy to gloss over the unique case of Tribes, the London indie rockers who released two albums to widespread acclaim before splitting in late 2013. Almost 9 years since their last album, they have reunited with new material in the bag to take to stages across the country. If frontman Johnny Lloyd’s prolific solo albums are anything to go by, it should be a triumphant comeback, one you should check out on Saturday.

Hill Top Stage - 17.30-18.00

Coach Party

Isle of Wight newcomers Coach Party have been making waves with their chaotic, boisterous brand of rock. Having recently signed to legendary indie label Chess Club Records, their releases have seen widespread praise and airtime from the likes of Annie Mac, Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy. Their recent EP Nothing Is Real is a blast; the riffs are glorious, Jess Eastwood’s lyrics are fabulously witty and delivered with fervent urgency. They’ll be taking the Live At Leeds stage later on in the day- whilst you may be tempted to see one of the larger acts, take time to see Coach Party before they’re on a bigger stage fit for their expansive energy.

Dork Left Stage - 18.45-19.15

The Vaccines

The Vaccines are a band who have only gone from strength to strength. Hot off the heels of releasing Back in Love City, their best and most imaginative album to date, they have hit the road to bring their iconic live show to audiences across the world. A packed summer awaits them, from slots at festivals such as Tramlines and Isle of Wight to dates supporting Kings of Leon and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Before all that though, they will be heading to Leeds to deliver an hour of indie disco classics before headliners Bombay Bicycle Club close the festival. And what band is more apt for a sunny festival soundtrack than The Vaccines? You can imagine the scenes as audiences flail their arms and belt along to the likes of ‘If You Wanna’, ‘I Always Knew’ and ‘All in White’. As well as these, new tunes ‘Headphones Baby’ and ‘Jump Off the Top’ were practically born for nights like these. Whether you’re a fan or one of the unconverted (an anti-vaxxer if you will), The Vaccines will kickstart your summer in the best way possible.

MTV Main Stage - 19.45-20.45
