Novi Sad, Serbia
Thursday 8th July - Sunday 11th July 2010
Tickets cost £72 + booking fee
EXIT Festival was born in Novi Sad in the summer of 2001, to a fortress called Petrovaradin on an island sat on the River Danube inhabited by artists and several wandering dogs.
Novi Sad is a fine-looking University town situated a mere two bus hours away from Belgrade, once capital of old Yugoslavia, now of Serbia.
Stage action may not start until six, but to wile away the day Novi Sad offers an abundance of café style bars and restaurants, churches, theatres (may be closed though!), some green park like places near cobbled streets that are lined with beautiful buildings decorated with little local art-gallery-jewellery-trinket type shops, and plenty of ice cream.
Besides top bands, the festival itself offers an abundance of nice affordable take-away food (including vegan), tourist token items such as logo-ed towelling wristbands, T-shirts, cheap beer, an uncountable number of music tents to suit all trends, friendly information carriers in the form of people, and an unforgettable sunset for those that can last. Camping; located the other side of the river is the best and closest way to pass the hours that would usually be spent sleeping; offering internet, showers, and its very own stage.
