In one of the most interesting pieces of festival news of the year, comedy legend Stewart Lee has been confirmed to curate ATP Festival 2016.

The iconic boutique festival is usually curated by musicians, such as Nick Cave, Mogwai and The National - but for next year, will go for something a little different. Lee is also known as an avid music fan - having written a regular column for The Sunday Times for many years.

“Of all the ATPs I've attended, the 2001 weekend, when Tortoise curated it and laid American free jazz, European improv noise, alternative country rock, alienating stand-up comedy, ambient electronica, Eighties hardcore, Seventies CBGBs nostalgia, smart-arse post punk, Dutch anarcho-jazz and all manner of unexpected cross-currents on curious young people, remains a pivotal point in my musical education. It's a great honour to be allowed to attempt something similar. Bring bucket, spade, swimwear and an open mind,” says Lee.

The line-up is due to be announced across the coming months, but ATP 2016 will take place at Pontins holiday camp in Prestatyn, North Wales  - a site that also boasts an indoor swimming pool, football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, crazy golf course, go-kart track, air hockey, and a large arcade games area.
