The Dear Hunter have unveiled their dark and brilliant new single, 'Wait'. Listen to it first on Gigwise below.
The song is taken from the US rock band's forthcoming sixth album, Act IV: Rebirth In Reprise, which is the fourth in a six-act story that began almost a decade ago, with the release of 2006's Act I: The Lake South, The River North.
The high-concept project documents the birth, life and abrupt death of a boy, set at the dawn of the 20th century. It's an ambitious and astonishingly inventive odyssey.
Skilfully negotiating a path between sinister balladry and anthemic hooks, and occasionally taking a deep breath in the form of quiet, computerised bridges, 'Wait' asks some stark, existential questions of its listener: "Will I ever know heaven and hell, or is eternity something worse?"
