Foals have spoken out about the risk and the gamble of their upcoming UK arena shows.

The band are gearing up for some of the biggest gigs of their career, playing the likes of Wembley Arena on their massive tour in the New Year. But what do you have in store in order to step up and fill much larger venues?
"We're still trying to figure that out, because it's new territory for us," guitarist Jimmy Smith Gigwise at the Q Awards, where picked up the prize Best Act In The World Today. "We'll see what we can do - arenas are a whole new playground for us, so we don't know what to do yet. Maybe pyro!
Keyboardist Edwin Congreave added: "We do have a pretty experienced team behind us who have done shows in arenas so I think we're in safe hands. In terms of all the whizz-bangs....
Jimmmy then intterupted: "We want to get away from doing all of the like, obvious arena shows like wheeling in a couple of video screens, a couple of loud bangs - but that's probably what we're doing.
"I think you get to a certain size of venue and you can't translate the intimacy, so you've got to try something different. For us it's good. It's something new, it's a challenge - but it might be a total failure!"

And we couldn't let go without relaying our shock to Foals about them not being nominated for the Mercury Prize last week - despite being highly tipped alongside the likes of Everything Everything, who were also snubbed.
"We were aware of it," Jimmy tells Gigwise, "but we don't invest that much in it. It's a great thing for music I think - and I like that it's the only awards show that is just about albums and nothing else. It's a good tradition."
