Coldplay released their new album, A Head Full Of Dreams, nearly a week ago - but it didn't appear on Spotify. Now though, Spotify has announced that you'll be able to stream all the album's songs from Friday (11 December). See ticket details for the band's UK tour below.
The one week delay is progress compared to last year - there was a four month delay between the release of their previous album, Ghost Stories, and it appearing on streaming sites. As Gulf News reports, this is an example of what's known in the industry as "windowing", a technique designed to maximise sales during the initial release period.
A Head Full Of Dreams was released immediately onto paid streaming sites, such as Apple Music and Tidal - the latter of which the band has released exclusive content through in the run-up to the album's release.
Spotify has come under attack several times over the past few years, as artists feel they're not aptly repatriated for their music. According to The Wall Street Journal, Spotify is planning on allowing some artists to stream albums temporarily only to paying subscribers.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest albums of the year - Adele's 25 - is still yet to appear on Spotify. People who try and stream the album are instead met with the message, "The artist of their representatives have decided not to release this album on Spotify just yet. We're working on it, and hope we can change their minds soon."
