Iggy Pop poses nude for life drawing class + upcoming art exhibition

Insert standard 'LUST FOR LIFE DRAWING' joke here

Iggy Pop Lust For Life Drawing as rock star poses nude for exhibition Photo: Press

Every wanted to see Iggy Pop nude? Well, now you can, if that's really what you want, as the punk icon posed naked for a life drawing class - with the images set to go on display later this year.

The 'Lust For Life' legend, who is gearing up to release new album Post Pop Depression with Josh Homme later this month, sat as a model at the New York Academy Of Art last month. There, 21 artists aged from 19 to 80 drew the Stooges hero, for an upcoming exhibition organised by the Brooklyn Museum and British artist and Manic Street Preachers collaborator, Jeremy Deller.

“The life class is a special place in which to scrutinize the human form,” said Deller, reports Pitchfork. “As the bedrock of art education and art history, it is still the best way to understand the body. For me it makes perfect sense for Iggy Pop to be the subject of a life class; his body is central to an understanding of rock music and its place within American culture. His body has witnessed much and should be documented.”

The images will go on display in the Autumn (or Fall, if you're American and choose to use that word).

Post Pop Depression is released on 18 March.
