Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has hinted that the band’s last ever gig may take place in Birmingham, their hometown.
The band are currently on their final tour, which is aptly entitled ‘The End Tour’, but the full extent of the tour, including where the finale will take place, has not yet been confirmed. Furthermore, there are currently no confirmed UK dates.
Speaking at an Audience With event in Birmingham on Saturday 19 March, the guitarist reportedly said he’d like to finish where they started, according to the Birmingham Mail.
"When we are home where we started, we have always found it a bit nerve-racking, but Birmingham means such a lot to us," Iommi said, "we are off to Australia in a couple of weeks, but it would be nice to think it could finish back where it all started — in Birmingham."
Currently, the last date that has been officially announced on the world tour is in Phoenix on 21 September, but it is expected that the date will not be the last.
The guitarist also hinted at the possibility of a live album to follow the tour, “it’s possible, because we are doing a lot of filming during the tour, too.”
Geezer Butler explained that an eight track Sabbath album would only be available on tour, "we thought we’d put out an album of 13 songs [13], but when we were in the studio we wrote another three songs, which brought it up to 16 and then we left it to Rick Rubin to pick which songs would go on the album, and to give it some light and shade he picked the eight songs that were on the 13 album. We put a few songs on deluxe versions of the album and then we had the four left over, and we decided to do a gig-only CD."
Recently, Black Sabbath were forced to cancel gigs after Ozzy Osbourne fell ill.
