Maximo Park have announced a huge homecoming show in Newcastle's Times Square in July.

The show follows a sold out 10th anniversary tour of their debut album, A Certain Trigger, at the end of last year, with two London Roundhouse shows. Not only will it be the band's first outdoor show in Newcastle, but it will also be their biggest gig since their formation.

Speaking in a statement, singer, Paul Smith, said: "It's been a dream of ours to headline a big outdoor gig in the heart of Newcastle city centre and now, after celebrating our 10th anniversary last year, we get to fulfil that ambition at the height of summer, on home turf.

"I hope there will be a celebratory atmosphere in Times Square because there are some excellent bands on the bill and we intend to put on a great show."

Supporting Maximo Park will be Public Service Broadcasting, Teleman, Fear of Men, Lush, and Wam Digits.

The band's debut album, A Certain Trigger, sold over 500,000 copies in 2005, and the band went on to record four more, with Smith saying in an interview last year: "I reckon a new Maxïmo Park record is on the distant horizon, we'll see how fast we can write together."

Maximo Park play at Newcastle's Times Square on 31 July. Tickets go on sale this Friday (15 April) at 9am. Get tickets and more information here.
