More about: Prince
You’ll know it well by now - the strange, androgynous symbol that became Prince’s moniker in the ‘90s, and continues to be the late artist's iconic logo. But you might not know that it was designed with a sharpie by a 24-year-old unknown graphic artist.
Lizz Frey, who Prince himself simply referred to as “that girl”, was told to never look directly into his eyes when she was hired to work on the artwork for his 1992 single ‘7’.
She was asked to draw a “beautiful seven” - which she did, by hand, and you can see here. Prince then drew a circle with a cross over it, and the symbol eventually became the Love Symbol, and the musician’s name from 1993 - 2000.
