When Pharrell agreed to host a masterclass for music students at a New York university, he probably wasn’t expecting to hear a song the likes of which he’d “never heard before in my life.” But that’s exactly what happened.
A student called Maggie came to the front of the class and told Pharrell about her roots in folk music, and the break she had taken from it after going through personal struggles. She then proceeded to play him one of her songs, which she insisted wasn’t quite finished.
His reaction is wonderful. “Wow. I have zero notes. Your whole story, I can hear it in the music.”
