More about: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Glenn Hughes has unveiled the video to 'Heavy' taken from his 12th album Resonate. It features a remarkably energetic performance from Red Hot Chilli Peppers' Chad Smith on drums.
As well as Smith looking like he's having the time of his life rocking out on his stool to this catchy and ridiculously awesome rock 'n roll hit, the video shows Soren Andersen (guitars and co-producer), and newcomer to his band, Lachy Doley (keyboards) rocking their vintage equipment in the studio.

It gives insight into the simple yet effective set up. It shows classic rock recorded with the best instruments in the best studio with the tightest musicians, who have a natural sense of melody and gel well together. There are very few groups at this level.
'Heavy' is one of two tracks that Chad Smith plays on on the album. 'Long Time Gone' is the other. Drummer Pontus Enborg plays on the rest of the album.
Speaking about his collaboration with Glenn Hughes, Smith said: “We know each other so well musically; obviously personally, but musically, and it’s always fun because playing with Glenn Hughes, (because) like any real artist, is always trying to grow and change and do new things.” Smith continues, “We have this musical telepathy that happens only when you play and know someone for many years, and that’s what a good creative collaboration is all about. I love Glenn Hughes and he’s an amazing human being.”
From watching the video you can feel that he energy in the room between some of the worlds best rock musicians is explosive.
Hughes has played with Trapeze, Deep Purple, Hughes/Thrall, his collaborations with Gary Moore, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and most recently with Black Country Communion which featured Jason Bonham and Joe Bonamassa, and Derek Sherinian, and California Breed also with Jason Bonham - and Joey Castillo of Queens Of The Stone Age. As far as rock n roll CVs go that is pretty damn impressive.
