More about: Maximo Park
Newcastle's Maximo Park will return with a new album this year, two years after the Too Much Information record.
Due for release on April 21, Risk To Exist will be politically-inspired and focus on world events from the past year. Well, there's plenty to get their teeth into there.

Speaking about the upcoming album, frontman Paul Smith said: "The album is, ultimately, about empathy. Some songs are simple messages of solidarity and others are fuelled by anger at the elitist, established order of British society. There’s a questioning of power throughout and a feeling that there must be a different way of structuring our society in order to alleviate inequality.
He continued: "Musically, the songs reflect more soulful and groove-based influences, allowing more space in the arrangements than ever before. The central idea is to align great pop melodies with songs that reflect the state of the nation.”
Smith previously hinted at new material back in 2015, telling Digital Spy "I reckon a new Maxïmo Park record is on the distant horizon, we'll see how fast we can write together."
The band played a huge homecoming show at Newcastle's Times Square in July last year.
At the height of the indie boom, the band's debut album, A Certain Trigger, sold over 500,000 copies back in 2005, and spawned the massive hit 'Apply Some Pressure'. In 2015, special shows were held to celebrate the record's 10th anniversary.
