The line-up for The Killers’ Hyde Park gig on July 8 has just been swollen with the addition of another six – count ‘em – acts.
Joining the ‘Mr Brightside’ hitmakers are – deep breath – Cold War Kids, British Sea Power, Mew, Mystery Jets, The Strypes and Alex Cameron. Also playing at the gig are Elbow and 80s ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ stars Tears For Fears.
The gig marks The Killers’ only UK festival appearance this summer. Anticipation is already running high that the band will preview material from their forthcoming and as-yet untitled fifth album – their first since 2012’s Battle Born.
They’ve been working on the album with U2 producer Jacknife Lee since last September and have been recording in a variety of locations including Las Vegas, San Diego, LA and – yes, really – Joshua Tree.
"A lot of their music was very inspiring to us when we were starting to write the very first White Lies songs. We played with them a couple of times before and they’re a great live band, I think Brandon’s such a great singer.
“Also Tears For Fears are playing and that’s very exciting for us. Charles and I especially are just huge Tears For Fears fans – we absolutely love them. To see that live is going to be one for the bucket list for us – I’m very much looking forward to the show.”
