Stand back and make some room for some swinging handbags – 50 Cent has decided to let the world know what he thinks of Jay-Z’s new album, 4:44. And to his mind, it’s little more than “golf course music” that’s “too smart”.
Jay-Z’s 14th album was released via his Tidal streaming service last week and it’s already gone platinum despite it not actually being available for physical sales. And while it’s garnered praise in certain quarters – no less an authority than Snoop Dogg deemed it “motherfucking hot” – not everyone has been so fulsome in their praise.
Showbiz bible Variety reports that 50 Cent – known in the East End of London as ‘Arfur Dollar’ – took to Instagram in a now deleted post to share his thoughts.
“I thought the shit was aight, you know what I’m sayin’? I liked the shit. But I’m-a keep it 100: The shit was a little, the shit was too smart. I felt like I was supposed to be wearing glasses and shit, and tie a fucking sweater around my waist. It was like Ivy League shit.”
“I ain’t gon’ hold you up,” 50 Cent added. “Some of that shit was like golf course music.”
Ouch!
Limbering up for another swipe, Fiddy then had a go at Jay-Z for actually growing older before bigging up Migos.
“Now Imma tell you the truth: n****s is high out here, so they don’t wanna hear that shit,” he continued. “They just wanna have a good time. You know what I’m saying? And fuck that – you can’t be the best rapper at 47 because the new n****s is here. They coming with new shit going on.
“That’s why I was laughing with the Joe Budden n****a with the Migos n***s ’cause they up. They up next, you gotta let the young n****s come in. N****s fucking with Future and all this. Leave them n****s alone man, b, what the fuck is the matter with you man?”
Ooof!
Jay-Z returns to the UK next month to headline the V Festival in Chelmsford and Weston Park.
