The stop motion animated film is a prequel to 'Hostage Stams'

At The Drive-In have shared the new video for their track ‘Call Broken Arrow’ – and you can watch it here. It’s taken from the band’s new album, in*tera*li*a, which was released in May and is their first collection of new material since 2000’s Relationship Of Command.

Directed by Rob Shaw, the thrilling – and occasionally disturbing – stop motion animated video is a prequel to At The Drive-In’s ‘Hostage Stamps’ promo that was released in April. This is violent stuff set in what looks like a dystopian world shrouded in darkness and fear. Not only that, but there's also an exciting car chase that sees the involvement of flying drones and a spectacular car crash. It'll be interesting to see of they develop this story line with any further releases. And of course it's all soundtracked by At The Drive-In's super-abrasive music.

Speaking of the video, Shaw said in a statement: “In ‘Hostage Stamps’ we have a prisoner being tortured and monitored by some sort of authoritarian organisation. The guys wanted to show why he was imprisoned, as well as cast doubt over his innocence.

“It’s funny how in stories, especially film stories, you tend to sympathise with whoever you spend time with. When you watch someone being mistreated, the assumption is that person is the victim.

"’Call Broken Arrow’ is in part about illustrating the prisoner’s culpability, but even that is in doubt as we see the Watcher character who follows him around slipping something in his drink at the end.”

At the Drive-In return to the UK for a tour in November that includes three nights at London’s Alexandra Palace. They play:
