Tom Hickox has revealed the video to the second track from his astounding second album, Monsters in the Deep. See it first on Gigwise below.
The singer is fast emerging as an artist of some considerable note. His debut album, War, Peace And Diplomacy, was released in 2014, but his new album, Monsters In the Deep, truly displays an artist making huge stylistic leaps.
Jaunty, bouncy and instantly catchy, ‘Istanbul’ occupies a pop hinterland that sits somewhere between the zest of primetime Paul McCartney and the songwriting maturity of John Grant. Tom Hickox is a major talent on the rise.
For the video, we're treated to a colourful, dynamic series of frames where he switches into a number of strange disguises. It suits the rich, vividly imaginative lyrics.
The opening shot feels like he's posing for a passport photograph - all suited and booted and a deadpan stare. The subsequent eccentricities see him keep a deadpan look but take on some flamboyant looks that could represent a pining for more dynamic existence outside of the repressed seriousness of the well groomed formal man.
Tom hits the road next month and beyond and we recommend you go catch him. Tom Hickox plays:
