Hours after the release of their sixth studio album, Villains, American rockers Queens of the Stone Age have appeared live at Leeds Festival today.
Fans sped to the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage at Leeds Festival today following a surprise tweet from the band which read ‘HERE WE COME’ with details of stage times.

With posters of their latest Mark Ronson produced album now appearing all over the Leeds site and this performance, it looks as though the band who last headlined Leeds and Reading back in 2014 have stolen the show once again.
Fans have taken to social media to share their fortune of being in the right place at the right sign or being sharp enough to read the clues.
During an appearance on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music yesterday, lead singer Josh Homme responded to questions of the rumours by telling Laverne he couldn’t make it, because he was attending a birthday party instead. Teasing that it was in fact in Reading, rumours soared that the band would indeed make an appearance at both sites this weekend.
This spectacular secret gig has pleased fans who are there and others who were happy to see Taylor Swift's hold on the moring's news be taken away from her:
Queens of the Stone Age should override Taylor Swift in the trends. Please, God.

As for those there, it got packed quite quickly. Two hours warning is plenty time to get the whole festival excited about QOTSA.

The band's sixth album, Villains was released this morning to much critical acclaim.
Meanwhile, QOTSA have some meaty new merch. They revealed a butchers wrap. They have. butcher’s shops across America encouraging people to “support your local butcher” and presumably, their latest album.
Elsewhere, the band shared a humour bit of promo that sees Josh Homme hilariously get his albums interviewed with Homme providing the voice for each one when they're asked about how they feel about the arrival of new family member to the back catalogue.
