Wolf Alice will play at the Festival Republic stage in Reading Festival at midday today.
This exciting addition to the festival follows another exceptional last minute addition that happened yesterday: Queens Of The Stone Age. This festival is showing its ability to be a festival that's far better than it look in paper.
The opportunity to see Wolf Alice should not be passed up and is a sure-fire highlight today. In the five years they've been together, they've progressed significantly as songwriters and as a live band.
The new material from the new album out 29 September called Visions Of Life had the difficult task of following their Mercury-nominated debut album, My Love Is Cool, but - what's out so far at least - proves they're not susceptible to the difficult second album.
The cut 'Yuk Foo' channels their inner Sonic Youth, whilst 'Don't Delete The Kisses' is reminiscent of Sweden's Fever Ray and has an ethereal quality that can't hlp induce a sense of escapism; it's also perfect midday festival music.
The gig will also be a chance to hear the song that made them. Their grunge-y 'Blush' that saw them gain a foothold as NME darlings around the same time Swim Deep and Peace were is particular live favourite and induce a visceral reaction from their punk- bassist Theo Ellis. Miss this gig today at your peril.
