A 30 speaker rig, powered by your empties, roams around the capital

East London parks have grown ridiculously popular in recent years with thousands taking down their barbecues, sound systems and best mates to lap up the sun. After all, if you live in London you're unlikely to have much of a garden.

One of the downsides of this, however, is the erosion of green spaces. I don't know if you've ever wondered down through London Fields at 6am? Take it from us, the tip that's left in the wake of all that fun is shameful.

To their credit, though, Kopparberg have come up with an ingenious way of dealing with this carnage with the invention of the 'Recycling Rig' that works on the exchange of beats for bottles.

The rig, which sails on a 3-meter-high decommissioned military truck, turns heads wherever it goes as its armed with a whopping 30 speakers made predominantly from up-cycled materials. It’s powered by throwing in empty bottles or cans onto a wheel that generates energy for the speakers – the more that’s thrown into it, the louder the music and the better the party.

Watching people flock towards the towering rig with their empties then party away leads to a cleaner, more fun park. Having made its debut appearance in London Fields, Victoria Park, and Shoreditch Park, it then headed to Hackney Wick, bringing some carnival spirit to the East with DJ sets from Pixie Geldof and DJ Yoda.

Whilst the rig can't be around every day it's a fine example of trying to transform urban spaces into better condition in a non-preachy, rewarding way. See the video above.
