Well, this should send the internet into total meltdown: Kendrick Lamar has announced a UK arena for February 2018. The rap superstar will bring his DAMN tour to Manchester, Glasgow, London and Birmingham. Support comes from James Blake.

Kendrick released his fourth album, DAMN, back in April and it found journalists and critics falling over themselves to reach for dictionaries and well-thumbed copies of Roget’s Thesaurus as they applied superlatives and praise like an alcoholic drizzling a Christmas pudding with brandy. Which is fair enough as it’s pretty – ahem – damn good.

The arena tour kicks off at Birmingham’s Genting Arena on February 9, then calls in at Manchester’s Arena the following day on February 10, Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on February 11 before wrapping things up with two big shows at the O2 Arena on February 12 and 13.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN tour ticks the box marked “Highly Anticipated”. The video for ‘Humble’ has been viewed a mind-boggling 332,551,156 times (probably a few more after you’ve watched it again). On top of that, he also has five of the top 50 most streamed songs of the year in the shape of ‘Humble’, ‘DNA’, ‘Love’ (featuring Zacari), ‘Loyalty’ featuring Rihanna and ‘Element’.

His previous album, To Pimp A Butterfly, topped year-end lists all over the globe and tackled the timely issues of racial inequality and discrimination with tracks such as ‘Alright’, ‘King Kunta’ and ‘The Blacker The Berry’.

And you still want more? Support for all dates comes from Mercury Prize-winning producer James Blake.

Tickets for Kendrick Lamar UK arena tour go on sale at 9am, Friday, October 6.
