What do you get if you mix Holy Fuck, Add N to (X) and the spirit of punk? Brighton’s AK/DK of course. This duo are on the cusp of releasing their new long player ‘Patterns/Harmonics’. This is the follow up to 2014’s ‘Synths + Drums + Noise + Space’ and given the quality of single ‘Lagom’, and current banger ‘Morphology’, Patterns/Harmonics looks get to be jostling for album of the year.

‘Morphology’ is a kaleidoscopic distorted mess of crisp drums and disjointed synths. But it’s this melange of melodies the rhythms that is the power of AK/DK. Their ability of wig out while never losing sight of the listener’s enjoyment has set them apart from their peer in the world of velo electronics.

Patterns/Harmonics is an album for people that like their disco-punk rampant and their electronics turned to Carpenter, but there are flourishes of Delia Derbyshire thrown in for good measure. AK/DK aren’t just a band that know how to rock, they can also create delicate lurid soundscapes that transcend genres and decades.
