This morning (Wednesday, 1 November) pre-sale tickets finally go on sale for All Points East, a new London festival from the organisers of Coachella. World-class headliners including Björk, The xx and LCD Soundsystem will rock Victoria Park as part of a 10-day cultural festival in May/June 2018 aimed at making Tower Hamlets into the ‘London Borough of Culture.’.

Lorde, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Father John Misty and Phoenix have also joined the bill for what promises to be one of summer 2018’s unmissable events.

Björk, who just announced forthcoming album ‘Utopia’ will be released on November 24, is renowned for dazzling, theatrical and unconventional live shows – at various points in her career the Icelandic star has toured with brass bands, full orchestras, all-female choirs and, once, with just a lone steel drum. Describing the new record to Dazed magazine as her ‘Tinder album’, fans can expect the usual breathtaking vocal gymnastics, wild costumes and confessional lyrics, among stone-cold classic hits like ‘Venus as a Boy’ and ‘Violently Happy’.

Playing on Sunday, 27 May, Björk will be supported by beardy raconteur Father John Misty, pop-rock genius Beck and psychedelic electro whizkid Flying Lotus. Flying Lotus should especially be worth a look as his already hypnotically visual live set will be zhushed up spectacularly with mind-bending 3D projections – glasses provided.

On Saturday, 26 May, The xx headline, in what amounts to a hometown show for the Wandsworth trio. After a banging 2017 that saw their stock rise with critically acclaimed LP ‘I See You’ and many well-received international tour dates, next summer’s headline spot will be a great gig to take stock and enjoy some of their livelier, more arena-friendly recent material.

The xx head up a stunning Saturday lineup, preceded by kiwi pop titan Lorde and triumphal Mercury Prize winner Sampha, also from just up the road in Morden.

Friday, 25 May sees festival mainstays LCD Soundsystem headlining, with rock-solid support from New York’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs, glossy French kids Phoenix and local favourites Glass Animals.

During the week the festival site will be given over to the local community for a chilled programme of comedy, food, outdoor cinema and more. Music returns the following weekend on 2 June with the first so-called ‘APE Presents’ show starring Ohio rockers the National, with support from The War On Drugs and much loved Baltimore synth poppers Future Islands.

All Points East replaces previous Victoria Park events Lovebox and Field Day. Tickets are on pre-sale here at 9am 1 November.
