More about: The Smashing PumpkinsBilly-Corgan
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has lashed out yet again at ex-bassist D’Arcy Wretzky.
During the interview – hosted, incidentally, by metal legend Lars Ulrich – for Apple Music’s Beats One Show, the 51-year-old contrarian and shoegaze titan reckoned getting Wretzky back in a room with the rest of the group would be akin to a “shitty reality show,” indicating their long-running beef shows no sign of abating.

“Being in a band is like being in a family,” Corgan bandsplained to the Metallica drummer, saying he and his Pumpkins bandmates have “had such intense experiences together”.
Ever the peacemaker, Corgan went on to explain how he’d “spent two years repairing my relationship” with D’Arcy Wretzky, even though he hasn’t “been in a room with her for 19 years”.
Apparently they have chatted on the phone though, although Corgan still deciding not to pursue reconcilliation “only when it became obvious that it wasn’t the way she wanted it to be, it turned into this thing that turned very reminiscent of the past”.
Still, excitement among fans is running high as the rest of the group are in the studio apparently making new music.
“The thing that keeps you on the rudder is the music and the fact that somehow when the three of us come together, this magical thing happens that’s bigger than me, and I have no problem admitting to that,” said Corgan with regards to where his priorities lie.
Yay, music. “And if that’s not your guiding principle, then it’s a shitty reality show. And we don’t want the shitty reality show, we really don’t. We’d rather just stay on the music, and if we can do that, great.”
