Sleaford Mods are building anticipation for the release of their new album Eton Alive by unleashing new track 'Subtraction'. Listen to it on the link below.

Set to a distorted cyclical synth riff and throbbing beat, the fun track is in keeping with their minimal style and feels like a great underground nightclub banger.

Written from the perspective of someone who's a reluctant to tune in to social media but has to to push the band, it's partly a hostile response to that.

Listening to Williamson belt out the words: "It's not enough any more to want change, you have to do change. But the only change I like sits in my pocket. I'm a consumer I'm the systems rocket and I like my launcher," it's implicit of him viewing society's fixation on consumerism and social media as tied up with perpetuating the status quo. And given the album's title Eton Alive, it's evident the band aren't shy to condemn the political class.

Listen to Subtraction at the 1:19:13 mark here as Iggy Pop and the BBC have the exclusive. Iggy's a huge fan.

Gigwise interviewed Jason Williamson last year in one of the most outspoken pieces we published last year. Titled 'You've Got This Barrage Of Absolute Fucking Idiots', you can read that here.

The track 'Subtraction' is the second to be made public from Eton Alive, their fifth album. The album's coming out on Extreme Eating Extreme Eating - their own label - and seems to represent a shift away from being on Rough Trade, who released 2017's English Tapas and their self-titled EP that came out last year.

Sleaford Mods are on a UK tour in March, April and May. Check here for tickets.

Eton Alive is out in February. Pre-order a copy here.
