More about:

Willie J Healey has somehow managed to wriggle free of any kind of pigeonholing, bringing a tastily evocative blend of Americana together with pop sounds, rough-around the edges garage rock sensibilities, all with a very Lou Reed tone on new track ‘Songs For Joanna’.

His latest release is a trademark personal track from Willie, who never shies away from spilling his sentiments out into his work, yet the palpable sense of age-old teen angst is universally relatable. Love triangles, confused sexual identity and unrequited passions… it’s inevitable that people will be able to connect to this song on a deeper level.

“There’s so much confusion and all these emotions. Friends and family tell you that it’s all insignificant, but you don’t know that until you’re through it. Everything will pass.” Willie reassures.

‘Songs For Joanna’ is uplifting and joyous, it’s innocent and authentic. Listen below:

YALA! Records are championing the release of the EP due to be released 15 November on the label. Hello Good Morning’s title comes from Willie’s approach to finding inspiration: he’d eavesdrop on morning commuters, cinema-goers or latte-sippers in local cafes.

He’ll also be heading further afield in November, on his headline tour, including a date at London’s Omeara.
