More about:

Produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers), London four-piece Stereo Honey have taken a step up with new single ‘You Are A Monster’. It’s the first glimpse of their new material in a little while, and by the sounds of this track they’ve widened their gaze and are looking to bigger things. The album is set for release in 2020 - in the meantime, Stereo Honey are hitting the road in support of Amber Run, and will grace the stage of Camden’s iconic Roundhouse on 19 October.

Alongside building upon familiar Stereo Honey themes and sounds, such as driving percussion and soaring vocal delivery from frontman Pete Restrick, the track shines a light on the topic of male mental health, and it’s an intimate and personal perspective courtesy of Restrick. “It’s a song about hopelessness and love but it’s not a hopeless song. The title is meant to be provocative. They’re words I’m not exactly comfortable singing based on the simple realisation that in the midst of your own toxicity and self-loathing you can become your own worst enemy. I struggle with anxiety and depression and I wasn’t in the best place emotionally when I wrote these lyrics. I felt trapped in a very negative cycle, constantly punishing myself, unable to climb out of the hole that I’d dug. This song was an attempt to navigate my emotions and come to some sort of new understanding of my well-being, which feels really positive.”
