More about:

A sunshine yellow duvet cover lies in the middle of a navy blue carpet. It's the centrepoint for the Loyle Carner-directed video for Arlo Parks' new single 'Eugene'. The single is another lo-fi beauty with touching visuals. It's the first song since Parks released her excellent Sophie EP at the end of last year.

'Eugene' is a gentle, mournful quasi-break-up song that follows Parks' sadness as a friend shacks up with a new boyfriend. Characterised by the electronic riffs and understated power of Parks' poetry, the song is another sure addition to this artist's increasingly tender and technically-powerful portfolio.

'Eugene' premiered last night on BBC Radio 1. On the themes of the tune, Parks explained: "it explores the agony, jealousy and confusion that comes to light when the lines between platonic and romantic love blur."

In September last year, we named Arlo Parks the "generation Z poet laureate". Her tune 'Angel's Song' was part of our top 101 tracks of 2019.

See Arlo Parks on tour, and at plenty of festivals this summer:
