More about:

Sam Fender will be the first act to play at Newcastle's Unity Arena - the world's first socially-distanced arena. "Grab a few mates and let’s have a platform party!!" Fender commented on the news.

The Hypersonic Missiles creator will open the revolutionary stadium with what will no doubt be an exceptional set: the Geordie has been nominated for an Ivor Novello award for his debut album.

Performances to follow Fender's inaugural set include Two Door Cinema Club, Supergrass, Elvana and Bill Bailey. See all the shows below.

”Absolutely buzzing for this, getting the band and crew back together for probably our only gig of the year. Apparently this is the first socially distanced show of its kind and it’s amazing to see the north east leading the way, it’s huge for the area" Fender said of his booking.
