More about:

After only a couple of strong singles, newcomers TV Priest have revealed details of their debut album Uppers. Intriguingly, neither of those debut tracks will feature on the LP, which arrives in November. Lead single 'This Island' is out today.

A band that arrived fully-formed in 2020, 'This Island' nevertheless proves TV Priest to be a band with one foot in the future and one foot in post-punk's storied past.

Chugging guitars cut through the heart of the song, sending references flying here and there. Meanwhile, the gutteral growl of Charlie Drinkwater keeps things fresh and raw.

Drinkwater elaborated on the themes of the song: "'This Island' is about incoherence and inarticulate responses, both personal and political, in a time and place you don’t fully understand anymore..."

It follows May's 'Runner Up' and debut single 'House of York', which dropped back in April.
