Ed Nash of Bombay Bicycle Club has covered classic 'Mad World' alongside Liz Lawrence - the single is in aid of Samaritans, which receives a higher volume of calls around Christmastime.

Less dreary than the version made famous by Gary Jules in Donnie Darko, this is a more chipper interpretation that reflects the indie sensibilities of both Liz Lawrence and Ed Nash's solo work, as well as that of his band.

Nash called the track "the only Christmas number one it seemed fitting to cover after the year that we've all been through." "It's been a hard year for everyone and [Samaritans] seems more vital now than ever," he added.

The Michael Andrews/Gary Jules version of 'Mad World' was Christmas number one in 2003. The single was originally penned and performed by Tears For Fears in 1983.

Purchase the single on a pay-what-you-want basis on Bandcamp here to support Samaritans. There is also a donate option on Spotify.
