More about:

Ireland's For Those I Love has announced his self-titled debut album and details of its release alongside a new single 'Birthday/The Pain'. For Those I Love, the LP is here soon: it's out in March on September Recordings.

Only his third single, 'Birthday/The Pain' follows the pattern of this artist's previous releases in that it boasts the magnificent tones of David Balfe and his spoken-word poetry atop lush production, also by Balfe.

After the death of his best friend in 2018, Balfe locked himself away in the studio and wrote 76 tunes, the fruits of which we are now hearing.

On this third single, the themes are explained thus: "I was six when I first encountered the fallout of a violent death. It's such a haunting burden at that age, and still is. "Birthday / The Pain" recalls that moment, the desperation of trying to make sense of it as a child, and what it'd mean for me growing up against that backdrop."

For Those I Love arrives 26 March via September Recordings. Pre-order it here.
