London’s ISLAND have shared their new single ‘Everyone’s The Same’, following on from the celebrated ‘Octopus’ from earlier on in the year. ISLAND have been a staple of the UK’s live music scene since their debut album Feels Like Air in 2018, and their new music shows them taking a more polished, layered direction in production and experimenting with new sounds.

‘Everyone’s The Same’ explodes to life after a soft opening proclaiming the song’s title. The verses are stripped back to grungey, distorted bass before taking charge with the noise-heavy choruses. It’s a no-nonsense track that doesn’t wait around to make a point.

Explaining the meaning behind the new single, lead singer Rollo Doherty said:

“'Everyone’s The Same' is a song for anyone who’s angry at being told they can’t make any sort of difference or can’t be a positive force for change, I'd been getting really frustrated with this idea that as individuals our actions aren’t able to make a difference on the collective impact we're having on the world, the idea that we’re all destined to have a negative influence on the environment just by existing, and that everyone is equally guilty.

But the song is intended to be broader than that, and to capture that feeling of frustration at being told what you're worth.”
