The lovely POND have announced details of their next album - titled 9, the LP is arriving on 1 October. Today, it gets its second single in 'America's Cup', a funky psych boogie.

Sex, glitz and humour combine on 'America's Cup' and its neon video, as Nick Allbrook and co. channel Prince, David Bowie and the pyschedelic vibe of their Australian surroundings.

On the making of the album, Allbrook said: "We started off with filling a few tape reels with some absolutely heinous improvised sonic babble which, after much sifting, became the first few songs of the album...In the Rorschach test of re-reading lyrics, one thing that sticks out is a fixation on leaving behind a time of golden optimism and uncynical abandon."

The single follows lead track 'Pink Lunettes' which dropped in March and we called "twisted, sometime-industrial lick of psychedelic lightning with a dancey no-wave pedigree".
