Notting Hill Carnival will not return to the streets of West London until 2022, the organisers announced today.

Concerns over COVID and the possibility of renewed lockdown measures forced the "incredibly difficult" decision.

The organisers, Notting Hill Carnival Ltd, released a statement that said;

"Everyone involved in the event desperately wants a return to the road where Carnival belongs but safety has to come first and with the latest cautious announcement on the government’s ‘roadmap’, this is the only way to ensure that."

Asked about what the event would look like this year they said they are working in a number of different areas including an online offering, and a number of alternate, smaller live events.
