Michael Eavis has responded to reports in The Sun newspaper which claimed that US rapper Jay-Z was on the verge of pulling out of this years Glastonbury Festival.

The event’s organiser said that the claims, which first surfaced yesterday, were “completely unfounded” and “nasty malicious rumours”.

Speaking to XFM, Eavis appeared to suggest that The Sun had got the story from the organisers of the Wireless Festival in London, where Jay-Z will headline the week after Glastonbury.

"The Sun was carrying a story that he was pulling out,” Eavis said.
“I'm not sure where they got from, probably from the people that were doing a show in London the following week [Wireless festival] because they were tying to sell tickets for their show.”

The ticket registration system for this year’s Glastonbury Festival will open again today at 4pm after tickets for the festival failed to sell out on Sunday.

Fans will have to submit their personal details and a passport sized photograph before they are sent a link to buy tickets.

This year’s festival, which will also feature headlining performances from he Verve and Kings Of Leon, will take place from June 27th-29th.
