British Man Charged In Connection With Illegal DJ Mix Tapes

A British man has been charged in connection with the alleged sale of copied DJ mix albums in Mallorca.

Police believe that the unnamed gentleman, who is a resident on the Spanish island, sold illegal copies of albums to over 200 bars and clubs.

An operation was mounted after the UK-based Music Factory Entertainment Group, who own the copyright to the mix tapes, contacted the IFPI.

It's understood that the illicit enterprise was earning several thousand euros per month, reports MusicWeek.

Peter Parkin, the chief executive of Music Factory, said it was “extremely annoying” how the man had swindled Spanish promoters and his company out of their earnings.

“We are delighted to now be able to offer legitimate mix albums for bars and clubs in Mallorca to play to attract and retain customers,” he added.
