Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans has passed away after battling cancer since the end of 2008.
Evans was a prolific musician, picking up the guitar at the age of 15, and beginning his career is numerous southeastern rock circuit cover groups.
He later switched to playing bass and went on to play in bands such as Five Miles High! And The Outlaws before joining Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2001 following the death of Leon Wilkeson.
Posting on their official website, the said of Evans: "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of longtime Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Ean Evans.
“Ean put up a valiant battle with an aggressive form of cancer and he will be sorely missed by family, friends and fans."
Evans is survived by his wife, Eva, and his two daughters, Sydney and Andrea.
