Glastonbury Festival Seeks Licence To Secure Its Future Until 2016

Glastonbury organisers have submitted a new licence application for the festival, which, if granted, would secure the event's future until 2016.

Issued to Mendip District Council, new proposals include freeing up more camping space and opening the car park a day early on the Tuesday.

If approved, the current licence which runs out this year would be surrendered in favour of a new one.

According to thisissomerset.co.uk, it's believed that Glastonbury won't take place in the Olympic year of 2012 rather than the expected 2011.

The new application is open for public consultation with a decision to be made later in February.

Headlined by U2, Glastonbury 2010 takes place at Worthy Farm from the 23rd to the 27th of June.

Muse, Pearl Jam, Dizzee Rascal and Radiohead are just a few of the names being linked to the festival this year.
