A new Facebook campaign is aiming to “storm” the UK Top-40 singles chart and replace existing big names musicians with unsigned acts.

The group - Storm The Charts - has been inspired by a spate of recent campaigns, including one to make Rage Against The Machine Christmas number one.

Organisers are aiming to find forty bands and musicians on independent labels or completely unsigned who can attempt to crack the Top-40.

“We'll need over a million people in the group to take every single slot, so for heaven's sake invite your friends,” a message on the group's Facebook page states.

Interested acts have until March 23 to submit their entry, which will then be played to a judging panel.

The planned assault on the charts is set to take place at the beginning of June.
