Liam Gallagher has revealed that his new band will be doing the soundtrack for his new Beatles film.
The movie, to be adapted from the 1972 book The Longest Cocktail Party, will detail the Liverpool band’s final days.
The project is be created by Gallagher’s new production company In 1 and producer Andrew Eaton.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Gallagher said that he had the option to use the band’s original recordings in the film, but had chosen to re-record the songs himself.
“We’re going to do it. My new band is going to do the soundtrack. We can re-create the sound like that,” he told the Guardian.
“I think it would be more exciting if you had a sound that reminds you of that era, instead of the obvious ‘Lets It Be’ and…”
Gallagher added that The Longest Cocktail Party would be a one-off venture in the movie business.
"I'm doing this one thing and then that's it, I'm back on the dole,” he added. “I'm not gonna be doing films about whales or unkempt eyebrows."
Gallagher's as yet unnamed new band are expected to be revealed later this year.
