The hotel worker who found Slipknot bassist Paul Gray’s body told paramedics that there was drug paraphernalia in the room, it’s been reported.

A recording of the employee's 911 call has been obtained by gossip website TMZ.

During the call, the worker can be heard telling the operator that he suspected Gray had suffered a “drug overdose”.

He also says that he can see a hypodermic needle and a bottle of pills in the room.

Gray’s body was discovered on Monday at the hotel in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 38.

On Tuesday, the coroner said an autopsy proved inconclusive pending the results of toxicology tests, which can take four to six weeks.

As previously reported on Gigwise, the eight remaining members of Slipknot held a press conference earlier this week to pay tribute to their late bandmate.

They were joined by Gray’s pregnant wife Brenna.

The bassist was one of the original members of Slipknot, who formed in Des Moines in 1995.
