Rolf Harris has opened this year's Glastonbury festival with a performance on the Pyramid Stage.

The veteran Australian performer attracted a huge crowd as temperatures soared in Somerset.

Gigwise correspondent Andrew Almond said Harris told fans that he had lost his voice last week and was originally doubtful for the event.

He also joked during his set that his Didgeridoo was louder than the vuvuzela horns that have been used by fans at this year's World Cup in South Africa.

Harris closed his set on the Pyramid Stage with a cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway To Heaven'.

You can see photos from the set in our Glastonbury: Day One photo gallery below.

Gigwise will be coming live from the festival all weekend, so keep checking www.gigwise.com for the latest news, photos and interviews.

You can also follow the action on our Glastonbury page, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

  • I think he did a fairly good job with the cover! Would have been much better if he decided to wear one of the many Led Zeppelin t shirts.
