Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has admitted that they are no longer able to consider themselves a new band when they release a new album.

The Canadian group previewed their upcoming third record 'The Suburbs' at a show in London last night (July 7).

And Butler BBC Newsbeat that they were slowly getting used to the idea that fans already had pre-conceived expectations.

“One of the things [with] it being our third record, is that we can't really pretend that no one's ever heard of us before,” Butler said.

“Our first record was such a crazy, slow build, so it takes a little bit of getting used to knowing that the first warm-up show you play will be everywhere on the internet, and you kind of have to grow up in public."

But Butler added that it was an "exciting time" to be in the band.

“It really feels like we're at the point in this tour now where we're playing really great and the new songs feel really vital," he added.

Arcade Fire played six tracks from 'The Suburbs' last night, including 'Month Of May' and the album's title track.
